Abstract

SEO Strategies for Libraries and Librarians

The aim of this text is to introduce the main techniques used in Search Engine Optimization to libraries. If librarians implement these basic principles, the content generated by libraries could gain improved visibility on the web. People are increasingly consuming web content through search engines, which is why more and more websites are trying to position themselves and improve their organic traffic. To do so, they have a series of best practices and strategies known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a set of techniques whose purpose is to position a website favorably in the organic results of search engines and thus achieve visibility. For this reason, SEO use has become a necessity for any institution aspiring to be readily visible in the digital age. So, libraries and SEO are coming together, although there are some reservations on occasion
