Abstract

The marine plastic pollution of Pakistan first marine protected area Astola Island: Environmental effects of plastic on endangered green turtles and also identified plastic effects on residents of Astola Island by examining their faeces.

Plastic pollution is interlinked with other global, national and local environmental problems and development challenges such as loss of biodiversity, climate change, global warming. Astola Island is a very rich biodiversity hotspot, acknowledged as the first marine protected area in Pakistan June, 2017. The Green turtle are considered as endangered species, listed in IUCN red list. Plastic ingestion is growing global problem which affects biodiversity on earth.
