The hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity of methanolic extract of whole plant of Gardenia Gummifera (GGME) was evaluated against paracetamol induced liver damage in rats. And the GGME fractionated based on polarity of solvents with toluene, ethanol, 2-butanone, n-butanol and petroleum ether. The substantially elevated serum enzymatic levels of Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alanine Transaminase (ALT), Alkaline Phosphate (ALP) and total bilirubin were restored towards normalization significantly by the GGME in a dose dependent manner in paracetamol induced liver damage. The biochemical observations were supplemented with histopathological examination liver sections high protection against paracetamol induced hepatoxicity. Further investigation continued with GGME fractions, 2-Butanone Fraction (BTF) and nbutanol Fraction (BAF) substantially elevated serum enzymatic levels of AST, .. View More»
