Biography
Dr Shires is a molecular biologist, currently in charge of R and D of Molecular Haematology testing for the NHLS/GSH, with a research focus on the development of novel molecular tools to diagnose and monitor minimal residual disease in Multiple Myeloma. This has predominately focused on the use of cancer/testis antigens as biomarkers, which through the use of both flow cytometry and quantitative multiplex PCR are showing promising potential as biomarkers of myeloma.
