Study of Attenuation of Cardiovascular Response during Laryngoscopy and Intubation Using Two Different Doses of Pregabalin as Premedication in Controlled Hypertensive Patients-A RCT

Introduction: laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation are powerful noxious stimuli that should be attenuated.1 effect more severe in hypertensive patients.2 The present study evaluated the safe and clinically effective dose of oral pregabalin as premedication for attenuation of pressor response of airway instrumentation in controlled hypertensive patients.
Methods: After ethical committee clearance total of 90 controlled hypertensive adult consented patients aged 30-60 years(M/F),ASA grade II were included,and randomized into three groups of 30 patients each by computer generated random number tables. Group I received oral placebo, Group II oral pregabalin 75 mg HS+150 mg 1 h before surgery and Group III oral pregabalin 75 mg HS+300 mg 1 h prior to induction. Duration of study 2012-2013.
