Lin Ma

Biography

Lin Ma is an Associate Professor of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Tech, Virginia, USA. He received his B.S. in Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2000, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2001 and 2006, respectively. His research interests lie in the area of thermal-fluid sciences, with an emphasis on the study of energy systems using non-intrusive optical diagnostics. Specific research directions include fundamental combustion research using optical imaging techniques, energy and power devices (such as gas turbine engines, and hybrid automotive power systems), monitoring and reduction of combustion emissions. He is active in professional services at local/national/international levels. He serves on the AMT (Aerodynamic Measurement Technology) Technical Committee of AIAA, serves as reviewer for 15+ journals regularly, and served on numerous conference organizing committees and review panels.

Research Interest

 Optical diagnostics, combustion research using optical imaging techniques, energy and power devices (such as gas turbine engines, and hybrid automotive power systems), monitoring and reduction of combustion emissions.
