Case Study: Inverted Diverticulum. Colonoscopy Evaluation Prior to Intervention
    Author(s): Mahmoud Elkaramany Mahmoud Elkaramany

In spite of the rare incidence, inverted colon diverticulum can be misinterpreted and may result in perforation when biopsied or endoscopically removed. Such iatrogenic perforation can be avoided by simple maneuvers. Endoscopic air in insufflation can simply detect inverted colon diverticulum and save the risk of perforation. Our case study represents an old lady scheduled for colonoscopy for advanced evaluation of ambiguous abdominal pain and constipation. A polyp was discovered in the sigmoid colon. By air insufflation, the inverted colon diverticulum was detected and further procedures were ceased. .. View More»
