Biography
Okogbue CO is a Professor in University of Nigeria, Nigeria. He has done his MS and PhD in Engineering Geology from Purdue University, USA. He holds BS in Geology from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. He currently heads the Engineering/Environmental Geology group of the Department of Geology at the University of Nigeria. He has represented Africa (1989 – 2000) on the International Association of Engineering Geology (IAEG) Commission on Landslides and also on the UNESCO International Union of Geological Sciences Working Group on Landslides. He was the Head of Department of Geology, University of Nigeria from 1993 to 1997, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences from 1993 to 1997, and Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, from 1997 to 1999. Among his previous awards and honours are University of Nigeria Award for best graduating student in Geology (1975), the Elf/Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society Prize for Best Technical Paper presentation (1989).and the NMGS/VERSA-TECH/PO NWASIKE award,( 2011) for an active member of the NMGS who has contributed immensely to promoting the career of young mining engineers and geoscientists and has also distinguished himself in the profession.
