Biography
Raghothama Chaerkady obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Manipal University in Manipal, India. He was an Associate Professor of Biotechnology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India. He uses state-of-the-art mass spectrometers such as LTQ-Orbitrap Velos ETD and Accurate Mass QTOF coupled to high resolution nanoflow chromatography for comprehensive proteomic analysis. He has successfully employed a variety of stable isotope labeling methods such as SILAC, iTRAQ, TMT, and 18O labeling to study biomarkers and cell signaling. He is using different types of fragmentation methods such as CID, PQD, HCD and ETD for designing appropriate mass spectrometric methods to study various types of post-translational modifications and protein top-down analysis. His goal is also to develop mass spectrometry based assay methods for biomarkers and signaling molecules using peptide standards on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. He is a reviewer for Journal of Proteome Research, Proteomics and Trends in Analytical Chemistry.
