Samarendra Nath Ghosh

Biography

Samarendra Nath Ghosh worked in different departments as resident house surgeon e.g. General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, etc. after completion of my compulsory rotatory internship. I also worked in BR Singh hospital and Centre for Medical Education and Research (Eastern Railway, Kolkata). Samarendra Nath Ghoshobtained DIPLOMA IN BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCE from Calcutta University in 1981 and subsequently went on to complete DIPLOMA IN ORTHOPAEDICS from the same university in 1982. Afterwards, in 1984, he achieved DIPLOMATE NATIONAL BOARD GENERAL SURGERY. Then it was time for MS (GENERAL SURGERY) from Calcutta University in 1985. Samarendra Nath Ghosh did rural service in West Bengal Health Services from January 1985 to January 1988 at Dakshin Narayanpur Primary Health Centre, Hooghly, West Bengal. He joined the Department of Neurosurgery of Medical College Hospital, Kolkata as Residential Medical Officer cum Clinical Tutor and  worked there till 1990. Then he joined MCh (Neurosurgery) at Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER) and Bangur Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata. After passing MCh (Neurosurgery) in 1992, he joined Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital and worked there in different academic posts in the Department of Neurosurgery. Later he was promoted to Professor of Neurosurgery in May 2005. Finally I was transferred to Bangur Institute of Neurosciences and IPGMER, SSKM Hospital, Kolkata as Professor of Neurosurgery.
