Dr. Carolin Geon is a distinguished professor and researcher in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. With a specialization in molecular biology, pharmacology, and neurobiology, Dr. Geon has made significant contributions to the understanding of neurological disorders, particularly those related to neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and the molecular mechanisms that drive diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Dr. Geon completed her medical degree and Ph.D. in molecular pharmacology at top-tier institutions, followed by postdoctoral training in neurobiology and neuroscience. Her research focuses on unraveling the cellular and molecular processes involved in neurodegenerative diseases and developing targeted therapeutic approaches to mitigate or reverse neurological damage. She is particularly interested in the role of inflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. As an educator, Dr. Geon is dedicated to advancing the field of biomedical sciences and training the next generation of researchers and healthcare professionals. At the University of São Paulo, she has developed an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates molecular biology, pharmacology, and neuroscience, preparing students to tackle complex challenges in both academic research and clinical medicine. Her mentorship is highly regarded, and many of her students have gone on to pursue successful careers in academia and industry.
