Introduction: Depression is one of major health problems of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, it
remains undiagnosed and left untreated in more than half of diabetes cases. Despite 80% of people with type 2
diabetes live in low and middle-income countries; many studies on depression and its associated factors among
patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were conducted in the developed world.
Objective: The present study was aimed to assess prevalence of depression and associated factors among type 2
diabetes patients attending hospitals in Ilu AbaBor and Bunno Bedelle Zones, South West Ethiopia, 2020.
