Dr. Erves Liu is a distinguished professor and a leading expert in analytical chemistry at the University of Antwerp. His research focuses on innovative analytical techniques, particularly in spectrometry and chromatography, to address challenges in environmental science, pharmaceutical analysis, and food safety. Dr. Liu completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry at National Taiwan University and earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. His doctoral work on the development of high-resolution spectroscopic techniques for trace chemical analysis gained him widespread recognition for its precision and impact on environmental monitoring. He further enhanced his expertise through postdoctoral research at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). Since joining the University of Antwerp in 2014, Dr. Liu has led groundbreaking research in advanced analytical techniques, including microfluidics, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). His innovations have significantly enhanced the sensitivity, selectivity, and throughput of analytical processes, making them indispensable tools for tackling modern scientific and industrial problems. Dr. Liu has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Analytical Chemistry, Spectrochimica Acta Part B, and Environmental Science & Technology. He is also the co-author of the influential textbook Advanced Analytical Techniques: Principles and Applications. His research contributions have earned him accolades, including the European Society for Analytical Scientists (ESAS) Distinguished Research Award and the Flemish Science Foundation (FWO) Excellence in
