  Organisational Implications of Shifts in In-Vehicle IT Architecture for Incumbent Car Manufacturers

  Notably to exploit the potential of advances in vehicle connectivity and autonomous driving, car manufacturers are adopting centralised in-vehicle IT architectures. The purpose of this paper is to investigate organisational implications of the transition from decentralised to centralised in-vehicle IT architecture for incumbent car manufacturers. An analysis of recent developments of incumbents and new entrants identifies organisational challenges and opportunities. Incumbent car manufactures can pull two levers to improve developments in the IT architecture transition.
