Biography

Dr. Ndemo is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University, UK, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacokinetics from the University of Minnesota, USA.Dr. Ndemo is a recipient of many awards including Technical Aids Award to study BSc in Pharmacy degree, Fulbright Fellowship to Study a Pharm.D degree, 1988 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists(ASHP) research award,2015 Excellence Academic Faculty Award,2013 Internal Preceptor Award of Hampton University School of Pharmacy and Fellowship of Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya.

    Prevalence and Determinants of Medication Related Problems in Acute Kidney Injury Patients at Tertiary Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya

    Background: Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a common illness especially among critically ill patients. The incidence is 2-3 cases per 1000. Seventy percent of the cases are found in the Sub-Sahara African. The proportion of drug- induced AKI is about 25%. Hence there is a need to identify the medication related problems in AKI patients which will facilitate identification, prevention and improved patient outcomes. Objective: To establish the prevalence and determinants of medication related problems in patients with AKI at Kenyatta National Hospital.
