Dr. Geert van den Bogaart is a distinguished professor of Molecular Immunology at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He holds dual appointments in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Medical Sciences. His research focuses on the cell biology of antigen-presenting cells, particularly dendritic cells and macrophages, with an emphasis on membrane trafficking pathways and their roles in immune responses.Dr. van den Bogaart earned his Master of Science in Molecular Biology in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2008, both with the highest distinction, cum laude, from the University of Groningen. Following his doctoral studies, he was awarded a long-term fellowship from the Human Frontier Science Program, enabling him to conduct postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany. In 2012, he established his own research group in Molecular Immunology at the Department of Tumor Immunology, Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, Netherlands. By 2018, he was appointed full professor at the University of Groningen.
