Biography

Dr. Herman Matthijs is a researcher from Belgium. He is currently associated with Department of Public Administration & Management, Free University of Brussels and He is a recipient of many awards and grants for his valuable contributions and discoveries in major area of subject research. His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study. His research interests reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals.

    The NATO Members and the Budget Guidelines

    This study examines the defence expenditures of NATO (North Atlantic treaty Organisation) of the member countries over the period 2014-20 in relation to the NATO 2014 summit in Wales. The research of this study is to examine the following points: How has defence spending by the member states evolved in the period under consideration (2014 – 2020) and more specifically the evolution to the 2% GDP military expenditures; Which states already meet the second target of the 2014 Wales summit, namely: the 20% investment in equipment of the national military budget.
