Biography

Dr. John Halder is a distinguished professor in the Department of Chromatography at the University of Valencia. His expertise lies in developing innovative chromatographic techniques and applying them to solve complex problems in pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and food safety. Known for his interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Halder’s research bridges fundamental science and practical applications. Dr. Halder completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Leeds, UK, and earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Vienna, Austria. His doctoral research focused on enhancing chromatographic separation methods for complex mixtures, particularly in the analysis of bioactive compounds. After completing postdoctoral work at ETH Zurich, where he specialized in multidimensional chromatography, he joined the University of Valencia in 2012. At Valencia, Dr. Halder has led pioneering research projects in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), and hybrid techniques coupling chromatography with mass spectrometry. His work has resulted in the development of highly sensitive and efficient methods for analyzing trace-level contaminants, natural products, and complex biomolecules. He has also been at the forefront of introducing green chromatography practices, reducing the environmental footprint of analytical processes. Dr. Halder has authored over 140 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Journal of Chromatography A, Analytical Chemistry, and Environmental Science & Technology. He is the co-author of the textbook Advances in Chromatography: Theory and Applications, which is widely adopted by academic and professional institutions. His contributions have been recognized with awards such as the European Chromatography Society Innovation Medal and the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) Excellence in Research Award.
