Biography

Dr. Mehmet Altan, Assistant Professor, Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Research interest his current research areas include identification of mechanisms for primary and secondary resistance to immunotherapies and predictive markers for immunotherapy toxicities. He also works on translational research projects for identification of spatiotemporal dynamics of the tumor microenvironment in response to immunotherapy to define potential therapeutic targets.

  The Effects of Walking Combined with Active Range of Motion Exercises on Aerobic Capacity in Patients with Juvenile Dermatomyositis

  Objectives: Physical activity programs may be useful in the treatment of Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM). Therefore, we aimed to assess the effects of combined physical activity program on aerobic capacity, life quality and function in children with JDM. Methods: 27 children with JDM and 15 healthy children as a control group were included. In physical activity program, all patients performed both aerobic walking exercise (3 days/week/12 weeks) and active range of motion exercises (4 days/week/12 weeks). All patients completed the childhood health assessment questionnaire (CHAQ). Range of motions (ROM) measurements of joints were performed by using universal goniometer.
