Gender and stature prediction of human remains is crucial in anthropological and forensic sciences. This study investigated stature dependency of sternal morphometric parameters in an Iranian population. Chest CT scans of 100 patients (male=58, female=42) were investigated in thirteen stature-based groups in a retrospective study for sternal morphometric parameters including length, width, and thickness of manubrium, body, and xiphoid process. Also, derived parameters such as combined length of manubrium and body (MBL), sternal area and volume, and manubrium, body and sternal indices were evaluated. Differences among groups and stature dependency were investigated by one way analysis of variance and linear regression tests. Most significant differences were evident in manubrium width, body length, combined length of manubrium and body, and sternum area and volume between groups with h.. View More»
