Myalgias and Polyarthralgias Syndrome: A Brief Review

Myalgia, also known as muscle pain, is a common issue in the population and frequent cause of medical appointment,
especially in adults. It should be noted that myalgia is different from myopathy or myositis, these being muscle
disease and muscle inflammation, respectively. On the other hand, Polyarthralgia is defined as joint pain in more
than 4 joints and it is commonly confused with polyarthritis, but the latter is defined as joint disease where more
than 5 joints are involved, accompanied by polyarthralgia and joint inflammation.
In the clinical practice, a confusion arises when it comes to approach the signs and symptoms of these pathologies,
making it similar with other diseases. In addition to that, under a clinical view, doubts may arise when making an
approach, management and treatment.
