Effect of Metals on Semen Decline

There are some regions where the population is declining. This may be secondary to increasing infertility, largely due to a worldwide deterioration in semen quality. Metal concentrations in semen play an important role in male infertility. Metals such as Al, V, Pb have a negative effect on ART outcomes, such as embryo cleavage, blastocyst rate and even embryo quality, all leading to a decrease in pregnancy rate. There is currently no doubt about the effect of metals on semen quality. Measures should be taken to improve the environment and reduce the presence of metals.
