Biography

Dr. Septoin Beyruin Professor, Department of Pharmacy University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland Dr. Septoin Beyruin is a distinguished professor at the University of Bern's Department of Pharmacy, where he specializes in pharmaceutical sciences with a focus on drug formulation, biopharmaceuticals, and regulatory science. His innovative research and teaching have made significant contributions to the development of advanced pharmaceutical systems aimed at improving healthcare outcomes. Dr. Beyruin earned his B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Geneva and completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics at ETH Zurich. His doctoral research centered on the development of sustained-release drug delivery systems, which have since influenced modern pharmaceutical practices. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, where he worked on nanotechnology-based drug delivery methods for oncology treatments. Since joining the University of Bern in 2010, Dr. Beyruin has been at the forefront of pharmaceutical research, with interests in personalized medicine, biodegradable drug carriers, and the interface of artificial intelligence in drug development. His projects often involve collaboration with global pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, emphasizing practical applications of cutting-edge technologies. Dr. Beyruin has published over 130 articles in high-impact journals such as Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, and Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews. He is the co-editor of the book Innovations in Drug Formulation: From Research to Application. His work has earned him accolades, including the Swiss Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Award and the European Biopharmaceutical Innovation Prize. Dr. Beyruin is a passionate educator, teaching courses on pharmaceutical technology, regulatory pathways, and biopharmaceutics. His engaging lectures and hands-on mentorship have made him a favorite among students, many of whom have gone on to prominent roles in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. He is an active member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FIP) and the Swiss Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Beyruin frequently presents at international conferences and serves as an editorial board member for several leading pharmaceutical journals. In addition to his academic and research activities, Dr. Beyruin is committed to advancing sustainable pharmaceutical practices. He is actively involved in initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of drug manufacturing and improve global access to essential medicines. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Beyruin enjoys exploring the Swiss Alps, practicing classical guitar, and delving into the rich cultural history of Bern.
