Dr. Silvia Val Verde is a distinguished professor in the Department of Chromatography at the University of Valencia. Known for her groundbreaking work in separation science, Dr. Val Verde specializes in the development of advanced chromatographic methods for environmental monitoring, pharmaceutical research, and food quality analysis. Her innovative approaches have contributed significantly to solving complex analytical challenges. Dr. Val Verde earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona and her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral research focused on enhancing high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) techniques for trace-level analysis of bioactive compounds. Following her Ph.D., she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at ETH Zurich, where she worked on integrating chromatography with mass spectrometry for multidimensional separations. Since joining the University of Valencia in 2010, Dr. Val Verde has been a leading figure in chromatographic research. Her contributions include the development of novel stationary phases, green chromatography methods, and hybrid techniques that combine chromatography with spectroscopy. Her work has wide-ranging applications in fields such as environmental pollution control, drug development, and nutritional analysis. Dr. Val Verde has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Journal of Chromatography A, Analytical Chemistry, and Environmental Science & Technology. She is also the editor of the textbook Advances in Chromatographic Science, which is widely used in academic and professional settings. Her achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) Excellence in Research Award and the European Society for Separation Science (EuSSS) Innovation Medal.
