  Epidermolysis Bullosa Acquisita (EBA) is a chronic autoimmune subepidermal blistering disease developed after damage to type VII collagen by autoantibodies. Type VII collagen is the major component of anchoring fibrils in the sub-lamina densa hemidesmosomes of the skin and squamous mucosas.
