Dr. Yikun Chen is a leading scholar and educator in the field of chromatography, serving as a professor in the Department of Chromatography at Beijing Normal University. With a career dedicated to advancing analytical techniques, Dr. Chen’s research focuses on developing cutting-edge separation methods for applications in environmental science, pharmaceuticals, and food safety. Dr. Chen completed her B.Sc. in Chemistry at Wuhan University and earned her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her doctoral research, centered on the development of high-efficiency chromatographic materials, was highly regarded for its innovative approach to improving separation resolution and reducing analysis time. She pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of Manchester, where she expanded her expertise in multidimensional chromatography. Since joining Beijing Normal University in 2012, Dr. Chen has spearheaded numerous research initiatives aimed at advancing chromatographic science. Her work has included breakthroughs in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), and coupling chromatography with mass spectrometry. Her efforts have significantly enhanced the ability to analyze complex mixtures, from environmental pollutants to bioactive compounds in traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Chen has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, including Journal of Chromatography A, Analytical Chemistry, and TrAC Trends in Analytical Chemistry. She is also the editor of the textbook Advanced Chromatographic Techniques for Environmental and Biomedical Applications, widely used in graduate programs across China. Her research excellence has been recognized with several awards, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Outstanding Young Scientist Award and the Chinese Chemical Society Analytical Chemistry Achievement Prize.
