Cancer Genomics: Contributions and Challenges

Cancer has long been one of the most challenging diseases, with its complex and heterogeneous nature making it
complicated to develop effective treatments. However, recent advancements in the field of cancer genomics have
revolutionized our understanding of the disease. Cancer genomics, the study of the genetic makeup of cancer cells,
has presented an abundance of information about the genetic alterations causing the cancer development and
progression. At its core, cancer is a disease of the genome, caused by genetic alterations that disrupt the
intricate machinery governing cell growth and division. The advent of advanced sequencing technologies has
