Biography
Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor at the Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope. Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999, and completed his postdoctoral training in Cancer Biology with Dr. Stephen B. Baylin at Johns Hopkins University in 2005. Dr. Chen’s research covers epigenetic mechanisms of tumorigenesis, gene regulation by DNA methylation and histone modifications, animal models of cancer, and stem cells. Dr. Chen’s current research is on functions of sirtuin deacetylases in aging and cancer drug resistance, in particular, in the area involving hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia stem cells. Dr. Chen’s research is funded by NIH and the State of California.
