Achuth Padmanabhan did his bachelor’s in biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, India and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland Baltimore County working under Dr.Charles Bieberich. He focused on how the MYC oncogene (Under Review, JBC) and prostate-specific tumor suppressor NKX3.1 is regulated by post-translational modifications, development of the Reverse In-Gel Kinase Assay (RIKA), a global kinase-substrate identification tool identify novel substrates of Protein Kinase A in the prostate cancer proteome . He was also involved in a study that showed that the Prostate-dervived Ets Factor (PDEF) protein is regulated by Casein Kinase 2 (CK2).
My expertise include protein biochemistry, proteomics, Mass spectrometry, protein kinases, protein phosphorylation and ubiquitination, proteasome assembly and function, protein degradation, cancer biology, mammalian and yeast genetics
