Dr. Adrienne Black received her Ph.D. in Toxicology from the joint program at Rutgers University and UMDNJ-RWJMS and was funded by a Predoctoral fellowship from the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research for research on ultraviolet-induced dermal toxicity. Afterwards, she worked as a research associate, developing in vitro skin models for toxicity testing of vesicating agents. At the present time, she is working as a Principal Scientist and board certified toxicologist for a nanotechnology consulting company, with an emphasis on development of toxicity profiles of nanomaterials with topical applications. Her experience also includes several years as a certified medical technologist in the clinical laboratory of a major trauma and regional cancer center and as a safety toxicologist for a consumer product company. She has an adjunct appointment with the University of Maryland and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Society of Toxicology Dermal Toxicology Specialty Section.
