University of Giessen, Cardiac catheterization laboratory, Germany
Ali E. Erdogan is head of clinical invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology in the Department of Cardiology, and leads the UGCVR research group on Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has investigated the effect of pulsed radiofrequency catheter ablation on myocardial tissue for curative treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and was the first to describe the effect of electrochemical potentials during catheter ablation. In clinical research, topics of catheter ablation and antiarrhythmic device therapy are in the center of his interest.
Experimentally, his research spans from patch-clamp studies on the single cell level to arrhythmia analysis in the intact animal.
