Alyson Ross is a PhD candidate at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and an Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Pre-doctoral Fellow with the Nursing Research and Translational Science of the Nursing Department at the NIH Clinical Center. She graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a BSN and MSN. Her nursing experience includes Pediatrics, Women’s Health, and Mental Health. She has been a yoga practitioner since 1990 and a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor since 2001. Her research interests have focused on stress, health promotion and disease prevention. She is particularly interested in how lifestyle choices affect health and disease, and has lectured and published on the impact of yoga on various aspects of health. As an NIH Pre-doctoral Research Fellow, she has participated in research involving the relationship between stress associated with cancer care-giving and health behaviors.
