Dr. Suryawanshi received his DVM degree from Bomaby Veterinary College, India and MS in Biochemistry from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, India. He then completed his PhD in Comparative & Experimental Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, The University of Tennessee. His doctoral research work focused on understanding the role of IL-17A and Th17 cells in herpes simplex virus 1-induced corneal immunopathology. As a postdoctoral research fellow at Tufts University School of Medicine, he is studying the role of host innate and adaptive immune response in mediating corneal pathology and vision impairment against various microbial infections of the cornea.
