After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Mr. Demetriades completed his basic surgical training on the Basic Surgical Rotation at Guy′s and St. Thomas Hospitals and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, in London. He entered the Higher Surgical Training programme on the South London circuit and has trained as Senior Registrar at King′s College Hospital, St. George′s Hospital and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. He has completed fellowships in Skull Base Surgery with Professor Kawase in Keio University, Tokyo, and in Complex Spine Surgery with Professor Meyer at the Technical University Hospital in Munich. He has varied interests in clinical neurosurgery, including both basic and clinical aspects in neurotrauma. In addition he is an Apothecaries Lecturer in the History of Medicine at Guy′s King′s and St. Thomas School of Medicine of King′s College London. He is currently the President of the European Young Neurosurgeon′s Committee of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS).
