Sulfur mustard is a continued major military threat, and has grown to become also a chemical-terrorism threat against civilians in post-9/11 era. These threats combined require approaches and strategies for 1) the measurement of injuries, and 2) prophylactic and therapeutic countermeasures. My interest is to assess sulfur mustrd-induced biological alterations such as MAPKs, PI3K/Akt pathways, NF-kB family, AP1 family and proinflammatory molecules such as COX-1/2, iNOS, MMPs, PCNA etc. and associated mechanisms in skin tissue of SKH-1 hairless mouse model for efficacy study. Overall goal of my present research is to develop effective novel therapies against SM-induced skin injury.
