Biography

Dr. Anna Waszkielewicz is an assistant professor, and a doctor of pharmaceutical sciences with specialty in medicinal chemistry. She graduated from pharmaceutical studies in 2003 and she started doctoral studies under supervision of prof. Henryk Marona, DSc at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Krakow, Poland, in the field of synthesis of novel compounds. She coordinated 1.2 mln EUR grant from European Regional Development Fund for development of new CNS drugs. She is a co-author of 18 scientific publications within the field of medicinal chemistry with overall Impact Factor 25.204 as well as she wrote 3 patent applications for new drugs and their use in treatment. She has been granted patents for new compounds for treatment of neurological diseases in the US, EPO, Russia, and Poland. Since 2011 she has been the coordinator of cooperation between National Cancer Institute and Jagiellonian University Medical College in discovery of anticancer drug candidates.

Research Interest

drug design, structure-activity relationship, biochemistry, bioorganic compounds. Currently, she also design and synthesize analgesic, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and cardiovascular compounds.
