Biography

Annemiek C Schilder, a native of The Netherlands, is an associate professor in the department of Plant Pathology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. She has research, extension and teaching responsibilities in the area of small fruit pathology. Her research efforts are focused on the diagnosis, epidemiology, and sustainable management of fungal diseases of small fruit crops, with an emphasis on blueberries and grapes. She is collaborating with scientists in other disciplines to reduce reliance on fungicides and diversify disease control options for small fruit growers. She obtained her B.S. degree in Agronomy from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA and her M.S. and PhD degrees in Plant Pathology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA. She also studied a year at the Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands. From 1994 to 1997, she worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in Ibadan, Nigeria, on the improvement of seed health testing methods for tropical food crops and the epidemiology and control of red leaf blotch of soybean.

Research Interest

Her research efforts are focused on the diagnosis, epidemiology, and sustainable management of fungal diseases of small fruit crops, with an emphasis on blueberries and grapes.
