Bernd Lepenies is the head of the Glycoimmunology research group at Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces Potsdam Germany He earned his PhD at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg Germany with Highest Distinction Following his postdoctoral research in the Laboratory for Organic Chemistry Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich group of Prof Peter Seeberger he became a group leader at Max Planck Institute in 2009 Currently his research is funded by a grant from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF Dr Lepenies is a member of the American Chemical Society the International Endotoxin Innate Immunity Society the German Society for Immunology and the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology He served as a reviewer of peerreviewed journals in the area of immunology and glycomics research.
