Boris Simkhovich graduated from Riga Medical Institute (Riga, Latvia) in 1971. In 1974, he obtained PhD degree in biochemistry, and joined the Institute of Organic Synthesis (Riga, Latvia) where he served as Research Associate, Senior Research Associate, and Laboratory Head. In 1988, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (Sc.D.).
In 1989 Dr. Simkhovich moved to the United States, and became a Senior Research Associate at the Heart Institute of the Good Samaritan Hospital and Assistant Professor of Research Medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine (Los Angeles). He is a Member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, World Journal of Cardiology, J Cardiovascular Disease and Scientifica.
Dr. Simkhovich is author of more than 60 papers, and two patents.
Dr. Simkhovich’s major interests are: cardioprotection, effects of air pollution on cardiovascular system and application of stem cells in cardiovascular medicine.
