He graduated in 1961 in Geological Sciences from the University of Coimbra. Was Assistant, Faculty of Science, University of Coimbra until March 1967. He is was an Associate Professor of University of Aveiro, and since 1986 is Professor of the same University. He has 320 scientific papers published in national and international journals, has also published eight scientific books, and is also author of 8 publications of scientific and didactic.
