Professor Malemud has received many honors and awards in various fields.
The primary research focus of the Arthritis Research Laboratory (ARL) is to gain a better understanding of the signal transduction pathways that contribute to pro-inflammatory cytokine-induced matrix metalloproteinase gene expression and apoptosis in human articular chondrocytes. We are particularly interested in exploiting these signaling networks to identify suitable targets for intervention in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
