Biography

Dr. Chunming Yuan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He earned his PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2008.

Research Interest

Understanding exchange rate behaviors, including the determination of  exchange rates, the forecastability and volatility of the exchange rate movements, and the interplay between macroeconomic fundamentals and foreign currency policies
Explaining anomalies in financial markets, such as momentum effects, long-term reversal, and predictable excess returns
General time-series forecasting, empirical finance modeling, and the application of simulation techniques
