Culley C. Carson III is a graduate of Trinity College and received his MD degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. Following two years of residency in general surgery at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dr. Carson spent two years as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. He then completed residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following residency at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Carson joined the faculty at Duke University Medical Center, advancing from Assistant Professor to Professor of Urology. In 1993 he assumed the position as Rhodes Distinguished Professor and Chief of the Division of Urology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Carson has published more than two hundred peer review publications and edited seven textbooks. He is currently Past President of the Sexual Medicine Society and was President of the Southeast Section of the American Urologic Association in 2006.
