Dalia Zwick is a physical therapist with forty two years experience. She earned her professional physical therapy degree in Israel, B.Sc from SUNY Buffalo, Masters from LIU and a PhD from New York University. She works with people with physical disabilities in New York City where she integrates rehabilitation and yoga principles. She serves as a master clinician for PT students. She practices Iyengar Yoga and her interest in this style of yoga is both experiential as well as academic. She visited Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India a few times. She serves as a chairperson at an advisory committee to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and was instrumental in getting a recent, federally funded grant for the society. Her professional focus is working with people with diverse physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and stroke.
Her research interests are on topics of how yoga tenets can enhance treatment of people with disabilities that have impaired functions. She is interested in research topics such as impairment in pulmonary function, foot and ankle biomechanics, balance and walking and how yoga can reduce abnormal tone influence such as spasms and spasticity on movement.
