Biography

Since 1982 Dr. Corradini is the Research Scientist at the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Currently he is the Principal investigator at the Institute for Bological Systems of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He is the Secretary and Past-President of the Stirring Committee of the Inter-divisional Group for Separation Sciences of the Italian Chemical Society.

In 2014 he has received the Arnaldo Liberti Medal from the Italian Chemical Society in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Separation Science and Analytical Chemistry. In 2011 he has been the recipient of the Central European Group for Separation Science Award presented to him for his outstanding contribution to the advancements of Separation science in Europe. In 2009 he has received the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award from the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences for his significant contributions to the advancements of capillary electrophoresis in the world and diffusion of Separation science in Hungary.

Since 2012 he is a Member of the International Scientific Strategy Board of the Austrian Drug Screening Intitute GmbH (ADSI), owned by the University of Innsbruck. From April 2006 to February 2012 he has been a Member of the General Scientific Advisory Board of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Since 2005 he is a component of the International Scientific Board of the “Mediterranean Separation Science Foundation Research and Training Center” of Messina (Italy).

Dr. Corradini has held several appointments at the Department of Chemical Engineering of Yale University (USA), as postdoctoral fellow (1983-84), associate researcher (1986) and visiting scientist (1996), working with the pioneer of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Prof. Csaba Horváth. In 2013 and in 2019 he has conducted research activity at Leopold-Franzes Universität of Innsbruck (Austria) as a visiting professor. Dr. Corradini has held teaching professorships at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, Italy (1995-1997 and 1999-2006), at Leopold-Franzes Universität of Innsbruck, Austria (1995 – 1998, 2007), at Johannes Keppler Universität of Linz, Austria (1993-94), and at University of Siena, Italy (1990-93). He is a permanent member of the International Symposium on Separation Science series (since 2011).

He is currently collaborating with the Institute of Analytical Chemistry and Readiochemistry of The University of Innsbruck (Austria), the University of Athens (Greece), the Molnar Institute in Berlin (Germany), the Ecole Nationale d'Agriculture de Meknès (Morocco), the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Algeria (INRAA), the Austrian Drug Screening Institute GmbH (ADSI) in Innsbruck (Austria), and several Italian universities and research institutions, including the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), The University Federico II of Naples, the University of Milan (Italy), the University of Pisa, the Research Unit for Cereal Quality (CRA-QCE) of Rome, the University Campus Biomedico of Rome.

Research Interest

Dr. Corradini investigates fundamental and practical aspects of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and capillary electromigration techniques, applied to life science, bio-analytical and biological chemistry, and phytochemistry. His fundamental studies are mainly devoted to shed light on the physical-chemical mechanisms leading to the separation of biomolecules in conventional and micro-scale analytical high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC and μ-HPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and capillary electrochromatography (CEC), in conjunction with UV-VIS diode array spectrophotometric, fluorimetric, electrochemical and mass spectrometer detection systems. He is currently involved in the development of advanced HPLC and capillary electromigration methods for the identification and quantification of secondary metabolites in plant tissues and aliment of plant origin, as well as in the implementation of capillary electrophoresis, capillary electrochromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography in proteomics, metabolomics, and phytomics. He is also involved in proteomic and metabolomic studies for the discovery of biomarkers for early diagnosis of metabolic diseases and cancer and on the implementation of capillary electrophoresis and high performance liquid chromatography in proteomics, metabolomics, and phytomics.
