Biography

Dr. Xiu-bao Chang is an Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Minnesota USA. He is a Arizona Member of Developmental Therapeutics Program in Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Minnesota USA.

Research Interest

Dr. Xiu-bao Chang research interests are: 1) to determine the molecular mechanism of ATP-dependent anticancer drug transport by ABCC1; 2) to determine the molecular mechanism of ATP-dependent anticancer drug transport by ABCG2; 3) to develop a diagnostic approach to detect breast cancer stem cells at early stage; 4) to develop a system (for example, breast cancer stem cell-specific aptamer-coated nanoparticles) to selectively deliver therapeutic agents into breast cancer stem cells; and 5) to test whether the combination of this aptamer-coated nanoparticle-mediated delivery system with conventional chemotherapy will eliminate the un-differentiated stem cells and the differentiated cancer cells.
