Dr. Elijah Paintsil is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Pharmacology at Yale School of Medicine. He is a board certified Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist and attends at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests are: the management of drug resistance HIV; prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV; and pediatric antiretroviral therapy monitoring in resource limited setting.
His research focuses on the cellular pharmacology of nucleoside analogs in relation to treatment response – viral suppression, drug toxicity, and evolution of drug resistance. His has ongoing collaborative studies in sub-Saharan Africa to determine the effect of malaria during pregnancy on mother-to-child-transmission of HIV and establish surrogate biomarkers for monitoring HIV therapy and disease progression Pediatric HIV in resource limited setting.
