Born in July 9, 1958 in Salerno. He has done his Degree in Agricultural Sciences at Perugia University. Advanced Course on rural development and cooperation with developing countries at Padua University. He is Associate Professor of Economics and Agricultural Policy. He carries out its teaching and research activities at the Department of Management of the University of Rome La Sapienza. From 2003 until 2008 he has been Director of MIPAAF (Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies) Research Office. From 2005 until 2008 he has been Member of ENEA Scientific Council. He has been Representant of Italy within the Steering Committee on Agricultural Research of the European Commission and Member of the OECD Governing Body of the research project Biological resource management for sustainable agricultural systems. Member of the IPPC Commission (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) of the Italian Ministry of Environmental. Previous work experience: from 1986 until 1988 Technical Director of the Petrolla Farm, Campagna (Sa.); from 1988 until 1993 Consultant of Engineering Companies. He provided his professional services for several initiatives regarding environmental impact assessments, demographic and socio economic studies and cost benefit analysis of public works; from 1993 until 1996 Technical Responsible of the Center for Analysis Accounting and Business Monitoring of the Perugia University Farm; from 1997 until 2001 Technical Responsible of the development and implementation of the training and research projects of CESAR(Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development).Member of Italian Society of Agrarian Economist. Author of 53 scientific publications.
