Gabriella Baio

Biography

 

Gabriella Baio studied Medicine and Surgery at University of Pisa and she obtained Radiology specialization at University of Genoa in 2007. Since 2008, she works as Radiologist at IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria San Martino-IST-National Cancer Institute, in Genoa, Italy.
Recently, she was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer in Radiology at the University of Aberdeen and as Honorary Consultant Radiologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary-NHS Grampian.
Dr Baio’s research of interest are in translational imaging, from preclinical molecular imaging to clinical, by using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, PET-CT, Ultrasound and Optical Imaging in the field of oncology, GI, vascular and neuroscience. Her current research consists in the study of manganese compounds and calcium receptors for breast and prostate cancer diagnosis, as potential imaging target and drug delivery. She is invited speaker to national and international conferences and an active member of the European Society of Molecular Imaging (ESMI).
