Dr. Gang (Gary) Ren currently is the Staff Scientist at Molecular Foundry, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. He did his undergraduate and graduate studies in theoretical physics at Lanzhou University, China, BS 1990, MS 1993, followed by additional graduate work in Material Science (Electron Microscopy) at the University of Science and Technology Beijing PhD 1997. He worked for six years as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Cell Biology at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, followed by additional research work for two years in the National Center for Macromolecular Imaging at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He joined the faculty of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in 2006. He worked in UCSF for 4 years as an Assistant Research Biochemist before his research group was moved to the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2010.
